The Wine Vaults is a traditional public house in the centre of the historic welsh market town of Ruthin. Situated at the top of town it is ideally located for visiting the many historic features of the town.

The Wine Vaults in its current incarnation is a busy Irish pub set in a historic setting. It features SKY / Setanta Sports TV with big screens, Traditional pub games pool/darts, both front and back heated outdoor seating areas, Live music, Large Car Park, Only pub in Ruthin with Cask Marque accredition for its Cask Ales, Free WiFi with also a terminal available to customers anytime , freshly made food 6 days per week.

It was recently nominated for Denbighshire Pub of the Year.

The Wine Vaults is involved with sponsoring numerous organizations in the area, including, Ruthin Football Club, Ruthin Rugby Club, Ruthin Festival and also has helped numerous individuals with support and sponsorship, including Graig Aid, The Tied Knot and Owen Commericals offroad rallying team to name a few.

The Wine Vaults is a big supporter of promoting local musical talent and run a Plug in and Play open mic session on the last Thursday of every month. We also have live music about 3 times per month generally on Friday nights with all music tastes catered for. We like to host local up and coming bands.

The present building dates back to the 18th century and was known as The Black Horse in the 1820’s, later known as the Spirit Vault until finally getting its current name.
The Tuscan colonnade of six columns covering the front area are a unique feature of the building.
It once was used by royalists hiding during the Civil War and also apparently was connected to underground tunnels which were used as a means of escape. It is situated 5 minutes from the historic and beautiful Ruthin Castle and its extensive grounds.
The Tontine Friendly Society was founded here in 1903. This was one of three friendly societies in town in which labourers made small weekly contributions into a fund which would then support them in times of ill health or unemployment.
